The West Amman SSC Branch Organizes a Maternity and Unemployment Insurance Workshop for Establishment Liaison Officers

An educational workshop entitled “Maternity and Unemployment Insurance and their Positive Reflections on the Labor Market within the Private Sector” has been organized by the West Amman SSC branch (al-Youbil) for a group of liaison officers handling establishments affiliated with the branch.

The West Amman branch Director, Dr. Muhammad Mubaydin, opened the workshop and said that this workshop aims to establish a communication link with the local community. Moreover, it hopes to acquaint enterprises and the insured in this district with relevant updates and new resolutions related to them as well as to clarify all issues for them as it will have a great impact on spreading insurance awareness regarding the new Social Security Law in this district which is covered by the West Amman branch.

He went on to say that the SSC will apply maternity and unemployment insurance starting from the 1st of September 2011, which calls for awareness-raising efforts from the SSC’s media committees in order to support the endeavors of the Information Center to acquaint enterprises, individuals and women’s organizations established in various geographical locations in which SSC branches are allocated with the importance of these two insurances and occurring financial obligations due to them.

The Media Committee member of the West Amman SSC branch, Mr. Jamal Jubran,  reviewed the most prominent main features of both maternity and unemployment insurance and all categories that will be covered by them, as well as the application process and mechanisms followed by the SSC in this regard. He then explained the importance and positive impact of these insurances on employers and the insured.

He also stated that maternity insurance will help to enhance the level of women’s participation in the labor market and encourage employers to employ women in the private sector while unemployment insurance will assist in providing protection to the insured when they are temporarily laid-off work.

Toward the end of the workshop, the inquiries and questions of audience were answered by the West Amman SSC branch Media Committee members; Mr. Jamal Jubran and Mr. Khalid Luzi.
