The SSC will launch a media campaign to expand coverage of the social security in Irbid Governorate under the title "Coverage extends to include the northern governorate of Irbid " .
The campaign seeks to highlight the importance of the SSC's strategic approach to expand coverage and the positive impact of expanding coverage to all workforce.
Irbid will be the second location where the expansion of coverage project is implemented as of November 1 2009.
Institutions hiring one employee or more will be covered with social security, which paves the way for covering 18,000 institutions that hire five workers and less each.
The total number of workers at these institutions amount to about 37,000 and the project will cover the rest of the governorate's districts at a later stage. Thus, the SSC enhances its role in providing social protection to these segments that are still not covered by the social security umbrella.
Over the next three weeks, the SSC will launch a media campaign in all media outlets including; radios, newspapers and satellite channels.
The campaign also entails holding workshops and seminars to raise awareness among the individuals and the institutions on the importance of being covered by the social security umbrella.
Irbid Governorate, Irbid's chambers of industry and commerce and Jordanian Women Federation support the campaign, under which, there will be teams working in the field to explain the SSC's objectives behind expanding coverage.
Director of the SSC's Media and Contributors Affairs Unit and the corporation's Spokesperson Mousa Subeihi stressed that the campaign is part of the corporation's efforts to raise awareness on the importance of being covered by the social security umbrella and to entrench the concept of social security in the community.
The campaign aims also to highlight benefits of being covered by the social security and the positive impact on the workforce. It also seeks to highlight the role of employers and their national responsibility in providing their employees with social security.
It is also designed to educate workers with their rights and urge the employees to ask about their rights, especially since the SSC is planning, during the coming stage, to enhance means of social protection to the Jordanian community, a matter that requires media efforts to support the plan and motivate institutions and individuals to subscribe with the SSC.
Subeihi added that the expansion of coverage project will benefit tens of thousands of employees, which ensures that workers in all institutions are covered with social security regardless of their numbers at each facility.
This allows the SSC to provide social protection to new segments of the Jordanian society, a matter that requires efforts to raise awareness on the Social Security Law and needs the support of all media institutions.
He said that the SSC seeks to enhance its role and status as a national institution that works to entrench the concept of social security in the community, adding that the SSC appreciates efforts by the media to realise this objective.
Subeihi said the SSC believes in the importance of enhancing partnership with the press and all other media outlets, commending their roles and cooperation with the SSC in realising its objectives and spreading its social and humanitarian message for which the corporation was created.
